In the arts world, patronage has a long (and sometimes checkered) history. On the one hand, much of the art we enjoy today was made possible by the support of patrons, individual and corporate / religious. On the other hand, patronage was often used to control the artist or their art, turning them to the interests of the patron.

These days, we tend to understand patronage in a mostly positive way. Patronage could reasonably be defined as the support, encouragement, privilege and often financial aid that an organization or individual bestows to another. That definition certainly captures what we need and enjoy from those that join us in this particular work.

People support this work in many different ways.  Some make monthly donations.  These are, in many ways, the backbone of our planning and budgeting.  One-time gifts and gifts specific to various projects increase our ability to make quality albums and to respond responsibly to the economic challenges of art and ministry.  As you may be aware, those challenges seem to have increased exponentially in this economic climate.  We are continually grateful for our financial partners!

I love what I do, and am grateful that it seems to matter to people.  I know I don’t do any of this in isolation.

Thank you for your consideration and your patronage.

Steve Bell
